11/08/2020

It's Tuesday once again and the sun is shinning on my little piece of the earth, but that's not the topic, so let's see what is?

In America we keep seeing bizarre things happening from a dementia ridden president, cities under Marshall law, idiots ignoring the pandemic costing more lives and unlawful actions by law enforcement authorities, but just as you think nothing else will top all that, Trumps went and topped it off with yet another more dumbfounding insight. In a press conference yesterday he suggested that the Second World War, which ended in 1945, had “probably ended” two decades earlier by the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic which he said took place in 1917, does anyone actually write his speeches because if they do they should be sacked. Then if that outrageous gaffe wasn't enough shortly afterwards on Monday night, Trump was whisked out of a White House briefing room as US Secret Service (USSS) officers shot and wounded a man during a confrontation outside the premises. The president returned a few minutes later and promptly praised the Secret Service for shooting a civilian outside the Whitehouse, then continued his speech to make unsubstantiated attacks on the security of mail-ballots claiming that the Democrats were meddling in the election by wanting and insisting on mail in ballots.

So Trump once again claims the Democrats are meddling in the election by trying to fiddle mail in votes while his very own multi millionaire lackey of a Post Master General destroys the post office from within making it easier for Trump to misuse the USPS to his own advantage while giving himself a nice pay rise by signing an executive order putting a temporary freeze on payroll tax stating it will help the little guy which is a whole crock of shit. The little guy will instead of paying small amounts towards payroll tax monthly will be hit at the end of the financial year with a big bill while the big businesses like Trump International will save millions of dollars by not having to pay it's contributions towards the payroll tax. Basically Trump has helped himself to more money which will not be added to the Social Security funds it goes towards funding on a yearly basis. Once again the rich get richer and the little guy ends up on poverty street. Come on America wake up to what this man is fraudulently achieving on be half of himself, his family and the corrupt business owners out their that the Republicans are paid to serve. It's time for a clean sweep of blue if only to remove the bad apples of red, so politics can at least appear to be policing its own backyard. As an outsider I cannot believe such a corruption of democracy has been allowed to fester for so long in a supposed land of the free which at the minute is nowhere near being free with its current president who see's it as just another arm of his corrupt business empire  diverting money in to his own bank accounts through over charging of governmental staff assigned to protect him at his own hotels, laundering reelection donations in to family bank accounts disguised as wages for just being seen, using the office of the United States presidency as their very own marketing company to endorse products for backhanders, the use of governmental offices like the Attorney General and the Supreme court to subvert justice and worst of all the Senate to block unwanted bills as well as unlawfully prevent a proper impeachment hearing by stopping witnesses from testifying. This has to stop and now is the time to ring in the changes and put right how things are done lawfully.

On that I think I will check out dear old Blighty for rantable material. The government is still claiming that the national 'Track  and Trace' scheme is a world beater even though they plans to cut 6,000 contact tracers. Health minister Edward Argar stated that 'Track and Trace' was a "successful system" and would be strengthened by giving more powers to local public health teams which under the new plan means people who have been in contact with confirmed coronavirus cases may get a knock on their door if tracers cannot reach them on the phone. This shift towards local public health teams follows criticism that the national system is not tapping into local knowledge as Paul Hunter, a professor of medicine at the University of East Anglia went on the record stating that experts had warned the government that the system would only work well if it was "done close to the population" and that the UK had "many years of very successful, very effective infectious disease surveillance" for diseases like tuberculosis and meningitis that the government wasn't effectively using.

So the government plans to put another 6000 people in to the unemployment line which is already seen employment in the UK fall by the largest amount in over a decade between April and June. The number of people in work decreased by 220,000 on the quarter which is the largest quarterly decrease since May to July 2009 and it has been found that it's the youngest workers, oldest workers and those in manual occupations that were the worst hit during the pandemic. These figures do not include the millions of people who are furloughed, those on zero hours contracts but not getting shifts, or people on temporary unpaid leave from a job as they are still counted as employed and it doe not effectively capture the full impact of the pandemic which at the minute is giving a false estimated UK unemployment rate of 3.9%, largely unchanged on the year and the previous quarter. The worrying factor for those already struggling to find work during this current climate is that the analysts have stated that unemployment is set to worsen in coming months as the furlough scheme is wound down, warning of a looming "cliff-edge" and a "lull before the storm" scenario as companies find they cannot keep furloughed staff on and start to implement large scale redundancies or companies fold due to bankruptcy. And while all this shit storm heads our way with large scale unemployment, second or third waves of the pandemic and a government ill equipped to cope with it all, we have a primeminister planning a holiday. Did you see Churchill go on holiday during the war, personally I can't answer that, but it's just my opinion that as Johnson is being paid an extortionate amount of money he should be seen to be at least trying to do his job while the rest of the nation suffers unduly from his governments ineptitude to close borders earlier preventing the viruses explosion on to UK soil.

What can I take away from today? Well as America burns and drowns under political corruptness, the UK sinks under the ineptitude and cronyism infiltrating politics and the world itself starts its steady decline in to Dante's inferno of death, destruction, greed, corruption and hell upon earth. I am starting to wonder if it's time to take to the roads and try to escape to a place of tranquillity and peace if there is still such a place to be found because unless we remove the sycophants who currently rule the nations of the world the direction humanity will take is towards self annihilation and mutual assured destruction. On that cheery note that's all for today.

Rant you tomorrow!
