Monday 04/01/2021

So it’s a New Year and we have rang in 2021, but nothing has changed. We still are dying from COVID-19, over a year since it first hit and we are still been governed by incompetent, useless morons who believe they are doing the perfect job of running their respective countries, so what is there to celebrate? To me there is just more misery! Anyway, I haven’t ranted over the Christmas and New Year because I thought I would try and enjoy the festive season, but you know what ‘Bah Humbug’ and let’s see what has been happening shall we?

In America where it is T minus 16 days until inauguration day, Trump and Pence are still trying to corrupt nearly two and fifty years of democracy by illegally stealing the November 3rd election. Trump has been recorded telling Georgia’s Secretary of State to find him over 11,000 votes to beat Biden while threatening him with possible legal consequences if didn’t and Pence has backed a Senate Republican run at blocking the certification of Biden’s Election win due on January 6th. Both these men should be investigated for treason as they are openly trying to subvert the American constitution by misusing the power they were granted by the people four years ago and the monstrous pardons handed out by Trump should be quashed as illegal because he has openly abused his power to pardon his followers and lackey’s who colluded with or refused to talk about Russia’s involvement in Trump and Pence winning the 2016 election as well as other people linked to the Republican party who have been rightfully convicted by a jury of their peers.

What really gets to me is the fact that these two men and their administrations have spent the whole of 2019 while nearly ‘Four Hundred Thousand’ Americans have died from COVID related illnesses pushing to win the presidential election while ignoring or worse not giving a damn about their fellow Americans. Instead of implementing plans to slow down the spread of the virus, they openly denied its very existence and when they could deny it no longer, did they develop a plan to counteract it? No they did not! What they did was just criminal. To this date there has been no clear efforts to implement a national pandemic guidance structure and the Republican held Senate has continually denied a relief package to save Americans from financial ruin, all while they themselves pocket millions of dollars in bribes to help out corporate America instead of the working class population. Congress has fought hard to push through a relief package for over six months which would give a monthly payment to those affected most by the pandemic, just for it to be denied by Senate Majority leader McConnell. This is inhuman and every Senator who has backed McConnell’s decision should be removed from office immediately.

Come on America, we are living in a supposed civilised era where you respect your fellow humans, yet all the world is seeing is the country of supposed democracy act like a dictatorship where those in power profiteer off the misery of the masses. Is it not about time that those dinosaurs of privilege like McConnell, Graham, Cruz, Perdue, Loeffler and many more be shown the door for their illegal abuse of power which has set America back for generation? As an outsider looking in, what I see is an election system floored and broken which allows for abuse from the very halls of power which are elected to serve the people. This idea that a defeated or two term sitting president should be given just over two months to vacate the office is idiotic. There is no other democratic run country within this world that gives the sitting leader time to commit acts of sabotage before exiting the office. America needs to look at how it transfers power and adopt a method similar to the rest of the free world removing the defeated party the day after the popular vote has been certified, not giving the loser time to enact vengeance which has openly been seen to be done by America’s outgoing President and Vice President. Something has to change and change within the next two years so another Trump/Pence debacle cannot happen again in the future.

On that note I shall take a look at dear old Blighty where we are facing a New Year without the oversight of the European Union and the ever increasing ineptitude of a Johnson led Conservative government. So, Johnson got his Brexit deal setting the United Kingdom back for generations to come as we return to a time of abusive governments who look to profiteer before serve. Our borders are closed to the rest of Europe’s free trade agreements which will cost this little island billions as companies based outside the UK look to remove their UK based offices or factories. The cost of purchasing goods on the internet will be drastically increased as surcharge taxes increase and monetary exchange rates reduce the value of the GB sterling (£) against other world currencies. All in all the leave campaigns propaganda has severely crippled the UK economy, not to mention the civil, criminal and human rights of each and every British citizen as the laws of the land are now able to be altered without ECJ (European Court of Justice) or ECHR (European Court of Human Rights) approval giving which ever party sits ultimate power over us. As Johnson and his cronies get to work on destroying Britain, Johnson’s own father sees no good coming from his son’s blinkered and power hungry charge towards the Brexit finish line and has applied to become a French citizen through his mother’s bloodline. This just shows you how at odds the Johnson family are over the exit from the EU (European Union), if the patriarch is willing to jump ship and become a foreign citizen rather than remain under the control of his idiotic son and his fellow leave morons. I only wish I had the right to do the same!

Anyway leaving the Brexit argument for today, I feel the need to bring up the issues within the tiering structure of the current pandemic policy. We have gone from restriction guidance to lockdown, back to restriction guidance and three tiering policies, followed by a month long circuit breaker lockdown moving in to a tiering restriction controlled Christmas and New Year which has now turned in to a four tier restriction mandate in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, while Scotland has five tiers of restrictions. All this and we are no further forward to finding a solution to how we should live our lives. What I see is the only people suffering financially are those in the professions which are likely to contribute to the spread of the virus other than ‘COVID-19 Pandemic Key Workers’ while the rich sit pretty, unburdened by the problems related to finance. Don’t get me wrong I have nothing, but the utmost respect for all key workers and believe they deserve everything they get and more. My gripe is with those individuals who earn extortionate amounts of money while pretending to work for the betterment of society like politicians and high powered executives who are using this pandemic to increase their wealth and power while the unemployed and minimally paid suffer both in financial and wellbeing at the hands of the rich.

If anything, this pandemic has shown just how big the divide between affluence and poverty is in this day and age. It is just as bad as it was in the time of our ancestors over one hundred years ago, it just seems like it isn’t. Instead of workhouses, we have benefits which are severely below inflation. Instead of just soup kitchens we now have foodbanks as well to help impoverished households get food they would otherwise go without. Those living well, just don’t want to see how bad society really is with more and more people facing eviction or are already living on the streets, whilst other who have the benefit of a roof over their heads go hungry or do without the basics like heat just so they can keep that roof over their heads.

For what is seen as a civilised evolved culture we really do lack the common compassion to see our fellow human beings who are suffering or just blatantly turn our eyes away when we see someone in need. Even with all the compassion showed in this past year of hell more is still needed to be done by those better off or in a position of power to bring the levels of poverty under control where everyone is treated with respect and equality no matter their skin colour, their sexual orientation, their political view or their religious beliefs. Here we are in a brand new Year within the most technological and medically advance decade of all times, but still we value wealth over equality, self over selflessness, fame over obscurity and hatred over respect. Should we not look back on the compassion given openly to those in need in the last twelve months and make it a human trait for generations to come where our children’s children will be proud to say their grandparents and great grandparents played a part in making a world they are thankful for because poverty and violence was wiped out. On that note I will call it a day,

Rant you tomorrow!

Back Wednesday.
