02/11/2020

Well yesterday we started another month with the news that as the US fights corruption in politics, the UK or should I say England [because as far as the pandemic there’s no longer a United Kingdom] has been ordered back in to Lockdown as of Thursday 5th November, kind of an irony [anyone out there fancy finishing off what Guy Fawkes failed to finish back in 1605?]. So with those two images, let’s see what is going on.

So with 1 day left before the presidential election in America, the candidates are state hopping with their last ditched efforts of gathering votes. While Biden uses donation money to fund his campaign travels, it’s the America people who are funding Trump’s travel, costing millions as Airforce One and C17 cargo planes move Trump, his staffers and the presidential motorcade across the country without a care for how much federal tax money is spent doing so, with a five state hop and drop done on Sunday alone. Not to mention the amount of super spreader events that is causing a sudden rise in COVID-19 cases in those states, like in Florida where there has been a rise in the aptly named ‘Villages’ where America’s pensioners all congregate to die, since Trump’s rallies there. In other states Trump has been inciting his supporters to harass Democrat voters as they line up in the thousands to vote by creating mobile trains of vehicles honking their horns and flying the Trump banners and in Texas things got even worse as one of these ‘Trump Trains’ attacked the transport bus carrying staffers to a rally in Austin, Texas causing the rally to be cancelled for security reasons with one of the Trump supporter vehicles playing dodgems with a white car on the I35 highway thought to contain Biden volunteers traveling to the event. What is more disgusting is that Trump himself, even thought it was a good idea to retweet a video of the incident taken by Biden volunteer’s that were following the bus with the words “I Love Texas” captioned with it. This is not the way a president or presidential candidate should act!

Meanwhile in other states there is still civil unrest over the way police are allowed to indiscriminately kill civilians and still remain in their jobs. At a peaceful rally to promote voting in North Carolina people of all races, sexes and ages attending, got pepper-sprayed and arrested by police for simply standing in a group. Even the children with their parents and grandparents were gassed and sprayed, where is the protect and serve aspect of the North Carolina police force or are they simply White Supremacists in uniforms? As America fights for its right to live and to vote, the suppression of those votes by the GOP is becoming more prevalent each day as mail in votes are hidden away from pollsters, collection boxes are set on fire and high ranking Republicans bring lawsuit after lawsuit to suppress votes been counted after the deadline on November 3rd. Even Trump in a briefing to reporters after one of his rallies stated that, “We’re going in with our lawyers” which is him openly admitting to plans to challenge election result as soon as polls close trying to steal it. Another bizarre event is the polling booths in Stone County, Missouri, which drew attention to a noose in a room containing voting booths, describing it as “clear intimidation” of black voters. Missouri party acting chair Clem Smith in a statement stated “This symbol's purpose is to stoke the fires of racial prejudice and strike fear in the hearts of people of colour”, adding that it was a painful reminder of lynching’s of black Americans and that it was “offensive, inappropriate and outrageous” and should be taken down.

Basically I know elections are hotbeds of in fighting and slanderess remarks, but I don’t think America has seen such blatant intimidation of opposing candidates supporters in sixty years, which is been witnessed in battleground states now and I believe there hasn’t been a president or presidential candidate such as Trump who ignites hatred and violence the way he does since the civil war, but on that I might be wrong because I am not a scholar of American history. Anyway with just over twenty four hours left, the world holds its breath hoping that the American people will come to their senses and remove Trump fairly and unanimously giving him no excuse to petition the republican bought Supreme Court to decide the outcome. Come on America make the change dramatically!

Well that’s all I have to say on America today, so let’s hit the shores of dear old Blighty and consider the repercussions of Johnson’s latest U-turn which will put us back in to lockdown for the remainder of November and maybe even the year starting on Thursday. Johnson is expected to warn MPs today that Covid-19 deaths could be twice as high over the winter as they were in the first wave of the pandemic that hit our shores back in February. It is surmised that in a Commons statement he will say there is “no alternative” as he seeks to win support for a planned four-week lockdown in England only, But may also try to explain that he was “right to try every possible option” before ordering people to stay at home. Kier Starmer’s Labour has stated it will back the lockdown but criticised the delay the Conservatives have taken to act. This will mean that for the rest of November strict measures will include closing pubs, restaurants, gyms, non-essential shops and places of worship, but businesses where working from home is not possible, essential shops, Takeaway food outlets and schools will stay open. However one major difference, Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick confirmed that moving house will still be allowed during the restrictions, adding that removal firms, estate agents and tradespeople can continue to work but must follow COVID safety guidelines.

So here we go again in to big brother controlled lockdown installed by an authoritarian government hell-bent on turning the country in a reclusive state. As a single reclusive introvert this doesn’t bother me in the least because I am used to the solitude of life lone, but for those singleton extroverts out there that need, want and desire the contact of others it will be so damn hard and hell on earth, like a prison sentence, similar to been locked in cell for 23 hours out of twenty four having no contact with another soul. One of the biggest laughs of the weekend was the announcement that Ex-UKIP leader and present Brexit party leader Nigel Farage has applied to change the Brexit Party's name to Reform UK, promising to focus on dealing with the government's “woeful” COVID response. He stated renewed lockdown would “result in more life-years lost than it hopes to save” and argued that “building immunity” would be more effective, adding that there should be "focused protection" from coronavirus for the vulnerable [Trump’s lapdog at work]. My question to Farage is where will the current funds held for the Brexit party go? Will the bank accounts be renamed? Will the bank accounts be closed and funds transferred to a new account for ‘Reform UK’? Or will Farage simply pocket the funds and start a fresh with new supporter’s money like his good friend Donald Trump? Farage is a parasite on the nation that he sees as polluted with excrement from other countries and will keep on spreading his putrefied ‘BS’ until his dying day while robbing ignorant morons of their cash to accommodate his lavish lifestyle.

We as a country have far too many self-serving assholes wandering the halls of Westminster, corrupting the very democracy they took an oath to serve. It is time we had a proper clear out of parliament and that includes the House of Lords [which should be renamed due to its sexist connotations] which is no longer a viable style of government because it is not an elected institution, but rather an institute of nepotism and privilege chosen by political parties. The clear out of over privileged freeholders should be a definite step and a new method of electing the upper house, so it is more worthy of its privilege, should be implemented. I am a royalist at heart, but I do believe the way knighthoods and damehoods are given out these days should be seriously looked at because so many of the recent peerages bestowed have been bought through donations to the ruling party of that year, corrupting the privilege. Instead of the government sending it lists to the royal family telling them who to bestow such an honour on, there should be a department within the royal household that does the recommending, absent of political influencing and that department would then advise the royal head whether it be King or Queen on the most worthy of candidates. Basically give the royal head the decision to make a new Lord or Lady rather than the primeminister of the day! On that royalist note I will call it a day,

Rant you tomorrow!
