14/08/2020

Well its Friday once again, heading in to another weekend of political back biting and pandemic lying, but that's nothing new in this fresh decade of life we call normality. So let's see what shit is happening today.

In America as the presidential election race hots up with both sides firing off propaganda at each other, the bigotry and racism starts to raise its ugly head. Trump starts the opponent bashing with falsehoods as usual claiming that he has "heard" Democratic VP candidate Kamala Harris "doesn't qualify" to serve as US vice-president, amplifying a fringe legal theory critics decry as racist. Documentation shows that Harris was born in the US to a Jamaican father and Indian mother in Oakland, California, on 20 October 1964 and as such is eligible to serve as Vice president or president. Trump is trying the same shit he pulled for years, promoting a false "birther" theory that ex-President Barack Obama was not born in the US. Trump may not have started the rumour over Harris's eligibility, but he definitely will use it as a propaganda piece which prompted US congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (whom Trump has singled out numerous times to verbally attack) to condemned Trump over unsubstantiated comments on Thursday, which she openly stated have no basis in truth and described them as tools "protecting a white supremacist vision" that pushed "the supremacist idea that people of colour are inherently less legitimate". Miss Ocasio-Cortez's comments came as Trump shared Twitter posts which nicknamed his Democratic opponents as "Camel Laugh and China Joe", both of which carry racist connotations and are unpresidential, bringing the office in to disrepute once again.

Speaking of bringing the office of the president in to disrepute Trump is using his power and position to deny funding badly needed by the USPS which is a blatant attempt to subvert the election. Trump stated he opposes additional funds for the US Postal Service as it would boost mail-in voting he claims would help Democrats, backing up his outrageous claims that mail-in voting is fraudulent. There is little evidence that mail-in voting which the US military uses is rife with fraud or that it favours one political party more than another. The Democrats on the other hand have denounced Trump's comments, saying his position is an attempt to prevent Americans from voting him out as record numbers of people are expected to vote by mail due to the pandemic. This is all blowing up in to one hell of a shitstorm after Trump told reporters he refused to sign off on a $25bn (£19bn) emergency funding package for the Postal Service or a $3.5bn package for election security due to the high price tag. In what is a clear case of voter suppression Trump has voiced his opinion in a phone interview with Fox News that the Democrats need the money in order to make the post office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots and if we don't make a deal, that means they don't get the money. That means they can't have universal mail-in voting, they just can't have it. These comments by Trump prompted a response from a spokesperson for the Baden campaign stating that the president of the United States is sabotaging a basic service that hundreds of millions of people rely upon, cutting a critical lifeline for rural economies and for delivery of medicines, because he wants to deprive Americans of their fundamental right to vote safely during the most catastrophic public health crisis in over 100 years. You know and this is only my opinion, as a person Trump is corrupt and dishonest, but as a president Trump is worse because as a business man he was only defrauding the government, yet as the president he is defrauding a nation. It has to be stopped or the next four years could see Americans lose their constitutional rights to freedom of speech, freedom to protest peacefully, freedom to vote, freedom from oppression and worst of all the downfall of the countries very infrastructure as Trump turns America from a democratic republic in to a totalitarian dictatorship where a rule not seen since Hitler in Germany come to fruition. The main difference between Hitler and Trump is the arsenal Trump controls could destroy humanity bringing forth Hitlers dream of an Arian world where white privilege rules with an iron fist. Find a way to remove this man one way or another that is a plea from an outsider.

On that let's jump over to dear old Blighty and see what shitstorm is brewing at home. So as the government fails to find an answer to the coronavirus and its deadly effects, Johnson's has decided to attack peoples health claiming obesity is a factor in who catches the virus. He has decided to highlight the countries growing issue with obesity by banning such things as advertising of junk food, BOGOF offers and push exercise with balanced diets as a solution to the disease spreading. In other words the government hasn't got a clue what to do to stop the rise of the pandemics future waves of death. The problem with the government message over obesity is that people do try to combat their weight, but only a fraction accomplish a long term weight loss without boomeranging back and forth due to economic, mental or financial problems and the governments push will cause an even bigger issue within the psyche of those individuals who have tried and failed. This blatant attack on obese individuals will have a wide ranging affect causing mental instability within people who have suffered for most of their life with low self-esteem or depressive anxieties over their appearance. There is also the other side of the coin not linked to obesity, but with anorexia and bulimia as the government's blindness to the effects of openly pushing calorie counting or eating less will play in to the mindset of those individuals who already believe they are obese when they in fact aren't overweight at all.

There is a fine line when it comes to body dismorphia because on one side you have those individuals who are already obese and have tried to lose weight who have now just given up allowing themselves to balloon exponentially and then you have the others who are the ideal weight, but consider themselves overweight who will descend back in to a depressive state and cut themselves off from reality finding ways to reduce their all ready acceptable weight even more. As someone who has suffered with obesity for over forty years I fall in to the category of given up on ever been an ideal weight and have retreated in to a world of solitude due to weight gain because the medical profession can only see one thing when they look at an obese person and that is someone who over eats, so they pass out the same old advice which is to cut proportions and eat more five a day meals which I have tried and failed at, so I am classed as past help. So Johnson, 'YES' exercise and healthy eating are good catchphrases, but not everyone has two bodyguards to help and encourage them to exercise and us poor commoners don't have the luxury of a personal chef to prepare our healthy balanced meals as some simply struggle to find the finances to purchase the extortionately priced healthy food which for some reason always costs more than the non healthy food. When you come up with a plan that really helps everyone and not just the rich then maybe the nation will become less obese, but until that day your enthusiasm for losing weight isn't going to fly. On that self-deprecating note i will call it a day.

Rant you tomorrow!
